  6. NewsCoaster now requires the very latest TextEditor.mcc (version 15.7) in order for
  7. rot13 decoding to work - otherwise you will not be able to select text properly. This
  8. file is included in the nc_update.lha
  9.  
  10. NewsCoaster is a newsreader, which requires MUI. NewsCoaster is shareware, and
  11. the unregistered version if limited to viewing a maximum of two newsgroups. Please see
  12. the documentation for details on registering.

  18. Known bugs:
  19. - For those upgrading from version 1.27 or previous, there was a bug introduced from
  20.   v1.28 onwards which may result in some minor preferences settings being loaded
  21.   incorrectly, in particular the x-no-archive option, linelength and MIMEPrefs. If you
  22.   are already using a v1.28 or later then no need for further worry (though you might
  23.   like to check your prefs). In rare cases, this *may* cause NewsCoaster not to run in
  24.   which case do the following (you may wish to do this anyway to ensure prefs are
  25.   preserved ..again this only works if upgrading from v1.27 or before):
  26.     From CLI, change directory to the NewsCoaster directory, and type:
  27.       stack 80000
  28.       run newscoaster FORCEPATCH1

  100. - Multiple view windows! (must be enabled from Prefs if upgrading from older version)
  101.   (they also behave more sensibly, eg if you switch to a different folder, you can
  102.   read from the old folder by doing Prev/Next on the view window)
  103. - Doubleclick on a message in the search window immediately opens the message without
  104.   need to change the current folder

  121. - Doubleclicking works on the 'tree' view for the grouplist. Drag 'n' drop sorting also

  123. - Messages marked as 'important' aren't deleted by the 'auto delete after x days'

  161. - Reports that some other newsreaders interpret 2 digit dates as being in the 1900s -
  162.   NewsCoaster now outputs 4 digit years (NewsCoaster has itself always assumed two digit
  163.   dates of less that 78 to be in the 2000s).

  193. - More resistance to crashes (before if there was a crash between having downloaded,
  194.   and before quitting, vital information would not get saved meaning next time you
  195.   downloaded, the old messages would be overwritten! There were other similar problems.
  196.   Now this information is saved immediately after downloading, and other vital places.
  197.   Additionally, even if something still messes up, messages should now never overwrite
  198.   existing files.
